Can Olive replace Magic?

Old Navy is looking for a new mascot to replace Magic, and with 98,054 other dogs in the running, those judges should be thanking me! I just made their job real easy.

Olive has joined the competition.

Old Navy would be making a pretty smart marketing move to hire Miss O as their next mascot. Look at that face! How can you not love that wrinkly jowl? Doesn't she just make you want to run out and buy performance fleece??

Seriously, whenever we bring Olive to the local cafe, at least 5 people will stop just to pet or talk to her every time. And its like that no matter where we go. People just adore Olive! She is so much more popular than I am, but I'm not jealous!! I love you, Olive!

Shooting the Kids features Jules Bianchi Photography!

I shot Amy and Chris' wedding way back in 2001. They now run a very cool Digital Photography Blog that focuses on photography and children. I like to check it out every now and then and was pleasantly surprised to find myself featured there recently! I thought it was so cool of them to plug me that I decided to plug them as well!

Check out their site by clicking the link below, or check out the post that features Jules Bianchi Photography by clicking on the photograph!

Orange

Today I drove down to Orange to shoot Christy and Matt at their alma mater, Chapman University.

I'm a big fan of shooting my images RAW, but today I decided to use the various parameters in my camera, shoot jpegs and select different parameters depending on the shot. I designed three custom setting as well, and it was really fun! Now, I have a lot less post-production work to do!!

Also, I tried something new on the shoot itself. Rather than just taking portraits, I set up "scenes" and gave Christy and Matt a little direction. They were amazing! It made the whole shoot so much more fun, and I cannot wait to shoot their wedding at the Richard Nixon Library in October. We are making a guest book from these images... I'm so glad because there were SO many good ones, they deserve to be in a book!!

Reebok & the Rookie Premiere

Today my good friend, Tiffany Shine, and I were hired by Reebok to shoot four new Rookies (Laurence Marony of the New England Patriots, Sinorice Moss of the New York Giants, Brandon Williams of the San Francisco 49ers and Kamerion Wimberly of the Cleveland Browns) as they conducted a two-hour athletic clinic with the kids of Sumac Elementary School in Agoura Hills. The kids had an amazing time playing games with the guys and getting autographs (even on their hands and shirts!) and winning cool prizes like autographed jerseys. And while I cannot actually post any images of the athletes themselves, (and we got some great stuff!) I can give you a little flavor of the event.

My joint Pictage User Group

Once a month I lead the Los Angeles Pictage User Group with Kurt Hilmerson. It is a great way to connect with other local wedding photographers, and because our PUG takes place right AT Pictage, we have access to all the bigwigs - for instance, Jeff Jochum (VP Marketing & Sales) spoke at our PUG tonight to give us some insight on the future of our experience with Pictage. I never realized what a funny guy Jeff is! We also had the priviledge of having the brand spanking new album designer previewed for us... what an amazing program that is!

Our SPOTLIGHT STUDIO tonight was the very cool married couple, Jennifer Greer and Nate Berggren, who are B&G Photography. They brought in a ton of their albums and told us about their unique style while we checked out their gorgeous work. If you are thinking of attending my PUG and would like to be the studio spotlight, please let me know! Its a great way to let others in the community know who you are!

Los Angeles Weddings Magazine Spa Party

I have to say, I think the parties that Los Angeles Weddings Magazine throws for its vendors are such amazing additions to an already impressive wedding marketing tool.

Tonight I (along with the other wedding advertisers) was invited to a Bliss party at the Spa of the gorgeous W Hotel in Westwood. We were treated to hand massages, manicures and brow shapings while eating delicious yummies and socializing with the other vendors. Man, Los Angeles Weddings Magazine sure knows how to treat its clients.

Here I am with one of my favorite photographers, Robert Evans, and LA Weddings Magazine's lovely Tiffany Fisher.

Afterward I headed down to the OC for a late dinner with two more of my favorite photographers, Becker and Dane Sanders. We took this shot after Dane gave us our cool Simple Photo Life hats and SPL Dickies jackets. (Okay maybe we look goofy all sporting the same outfit...it was late and we were having fun!)

Its even later now, but I tivoed American Idol and I must go watch...wait...did I just say that out loud...? (go taylor hicks!)

Jules Bianchi in action

I have a few second shooters that I work with a lot, and while all of them do a fantastic job shooting my clients, they also seem to sneak in a few fun shots of me while I'm working.

I've had some requests to see these photos, so here you go... a few working shots from the past year or so...there are a few on-the-job self-portraits in here, too!

Impromptu trip to Disneyland!

My mother and brother are in Southern California for the week. I knew they were going to Disneyland, but it wasn't until Jeffrey called me to say that mom wasn't going on any of the rides with him that Jason and I decided to go join them. I can work whenever, but how often do I get the chance to have a really fun day with my family?

El Encanto Hotel, Santa Barbara

heidi & david.

Today I shot a wedding with my good friend and talented photographer, Anna Kuperberg at the amazing El Encanto Hotel in Santa Barbara. I am so grateful that Anna asked me to come along because besides the fact that I think she's one of the most talented photographers I know, I always have such a good time with her.

What I saw:

Anna Kuperberg, world's tiniest photographer.

The beautiful bride, Heidi.

Gorgeous groom, David.

The flower girls carefully throwing petals down the aisle...

I just loved this moment when David and Heidi saw each other for the first time...

I always try to shoot the rings - they are just too significant to leave out!

Fun with cross-processing and the lens baby.

David patiently waits for Heidi...

Tonight's wedding was a rather intimate affair, so everyone sat at the same table!

First dance as husband & wife.
