Walt Disney Concert Hall

Downtown Los Angeles provided a lot of variety for Lindsay and Spencer's engagement shoot this afternoon, and I LOVED their little puppy, Dylan! They are a really fun couple who were high school sweethearts. They were so enthusiastic and just willing to have fun and let me play.

I love my job.

Chateau Fleuri, Pasadena

jennifer & michael.

After Jennifer told me how Michael proposed to her, (think fireworks in GREECE) I couldn't wait to shoot their wedding because I knew it would be impressive. I was not disappointed. What a gorgeous, elaborate and detailed affair! In an effort to blog about this right away, I am putting up a FEW of my favorites. I will have to do a separate post of all the amazing details!

Yesterday was a crazy 14 hour day, so I want to give a huge thank you to Robert Evans, Jennifer Zivolich, and Amy Trahant for joining me and lending me their fantastic talent.

I also want to highly recommend Carolyn Chen and her company, The Special Day Event Design and Coordination. She made Jennifer and Michael's 450 person wedding move along so effortlessly, and she and her team were a pleasure to work with.

Congratulations to Joy!!

I just found out that the Wedding album Joy and I designed from her crazy Elvis-Vegas wedding was chosen as one of the top five finalists for the Pictage Album Design contest! The album will be printed for everyone at PartnerCon to see, and they are going to announce the Grand Prize winner at the conference. Keep your fingers crossed!

Joy has been designing most of my albums lately, and she is an amazing addition to the Jules Bianchi team. She already shoots with me at all of my Bay Area weddings, and having her do album design is just another way that our synergy is really able to flourish.

Here's a sneak peek of one spread from the book. Its one of Joy's favorite pages!! (Mine, too!)

Fun with Film

I shoot 99% of my images with professional Canon digital equipment, but I still love to throw a roll or two of film into the mix when I can. To be honest, its getting harder and harder to include it in my workflow, and I'm hoping I'll still be able to continue doing it for a while!

For my July 15th wedding at Estancia in La Jolla, San Diego, Laura asked me to shoot with my vintage swinglens camera which takes a 120 degree panoramic image. I just got back the scans - check out two favs from the swinglens and the Holga!!

Another kickass LA Weddings Magazine party

Being the social butterfly that I am, I'm always excited to receive my Los Angeles Weddings Magazine party invitations. They throw great parties, and its such a great excuse to hang out with my friends!

My blog is a little out of order because I was busy getting out of town for my Menlo Park wedding (see previous post) but on Thursday, July 20th, I attended the launch party of Los Angeles Weddings Magazine's latest issue.

Jules Bianchi, Brian Kramer & Dina Douglass

A whole gaggle of photographers: Danielle Biel, Alyssa Nicol, Robert Evans, Dina Douglass, Brian Kramer, Tara Rochelle, & Jules Bianchi

The impossibly cute husband and wife photography team, Ryan and Carrie Phillips

Laura & Andrew's slideshow

I love having a slideshow during the reception of my weddings so that the guests can check out what we've been up to all day! Laura and Andrew were having such a good time at their wedding on Saturday, they didn't get to see the show, but after hearing raves about it from all their friends, now they really want to!

Today I used the very simple ShowIt Web software to put the slideshow online for them. Click here or on the image below to check it out.

My Los Angeles PUG

I am the leader of the Los Angeles Pictage User Group that meets once a month at my home studio. Last night's meeting was so much fun - it was a proof product extravaganza! About a month ago, I ordered a ton of different kinds of proof prints, proof magazines, willow proof books, etc, so that we would have them at the meeting to check out and talk about.

Nicol of Alyssa Nichol Photography was our Spotlight Studio this month, and her presentation was really wonderful. Her take on photography is so unique, and I LOVE that she donates 5% of all her wedding packages to charity.

If you are a photographer in the area, please feel free to join us! We meet on the third Wednesday of each month, and it is really so much fun. You don't have to be a part of Pictage to come, you are welcome to join if you would just like an opportunity to meet other photographers... or perhaps you just want to meet Olive! Check out the photo below...she was there!!!

Hermosa Beach shoot

This Sunday I drove down to Hermosa Beach to shoot Farrah and Brett's engagement portrait. I wasn't sure what to expect since I'd never met them before - they won me in a raffle at A Soolip Wedding - and was pleasantly surprised to find them not only a gorgeous couple who are obviously crazy about each other, but really fun to hang out with, too! We spent most of our time just cracking up!

SO so many favorites, but here are a few:

We started out at their apartment and then just mosied around Hermosa Beach until we ended up at the water.

Hilton, La Jolla Torrey Pines

My good friend and talented photographer, Dina Douglass of Andrena Photography, asked me a few weeks ago to come shoot with her on yesterday's amazing wedding. Dina is someone I recommend to brides when I myself am already booked, and I couldn't wait to shoot with her. Her couple was gorgeous and the details were impeccable. I had SO many favorites, but I will try to keep it to just a few here.

I just love this shot of Chirag with friends and family in tow on his way to start jaan (the processional where he will meet all of Nita's friends and family.)

Kolo is cool.

This past May, I did a Simple Photo Minute for the hugely popular Cut Frame TV about gifts you can make for your brides from home, one being the Kolo mini mini album. Well! Yesterday, I was so surprised and impressed when a box arrived at my house full of Kolo albums and a kind note thanking me for the plug. What a cool company.

Chabad of the Valley

I want to say thank you to Sterling Franken-Steffen of the renowned Dahl Photographers for asking me to shoot with him yesterday.
