His & Her Stores

Tonight Dina Douglass and I battled the traffic down to Huntington Beach to attend the grand opening party for both Stephanie James Couture and Jim Kennedy Photography. Jim & Stephanie are married, and I'm jealous that their two spaces are literally next door to each other. How cute is that?

It was a fun time hanging out with wedding coordinators, videographers and of course, other wedding photographers that I know.

The adorable Jim Kennedy & Stephanie Brockman

Party details! (Notice how the cookie that came in the gift bag was made to look just like Stephanie's favorite design!)

I stole this last shot from Becker's blog because I thought it was such a cute one of Stephanie and me!

2006 Hollywood Portraits

I was so excited to be invited to Los Angeles Magazine's 2006 Hollywood Portraits cocktail reception at the Arclight in Hollywood again this year. Although I loved the portraits last year, I thought this year's photography by David Strick and Gregg Segal was a little more fun.

The exhibition will be up for all to see from November 21, 2006 to January 1, 2007. Although I brought my little Canon SD-700 point-and-shoot, the battery was dead. So these are all shot with my trusty little Razr!! I don't think they are too bad seeing as they are shot with a phone...

My good friend, Lori, came with me as my "plus one".

Olive the Super Star

I have finally got my own POP ART!! My good friend, Wendy Maybury, took this shot of Olive a few years ago. I have always loved it and finally did something really cool with it. Each image is a 16" x 20" canvas print, so the whole piece is about 34" x 44"

I love it!! It matches the new couches!

Portraits in Berkeley

I have known Alya and Hannah since Hannah was three years old. It is really amazing to watch Hannah become a beautiful young woman and to see what good friends she is with her mom. Its fun to watch them pal around together. Yesterday I drove out to Berkeley to hang out with them at their house and shoot a few casual portraits in their backyard. Alya has started her own gardening business and needed a headshot or two for her upcoming website. I'll post the link when its ready!

Maternity Portraits

I shot Casey & Tuan's wedding back in September of 2005. Today I drove to San Mateo to shoot pregnancy portraits of them at their home. We had fun doing the shoot around their cute house, and I can't wait to meet their little one next year!

Bedtime with the Browns

I am in the Bay Area for the week of Thanksgiving to not only take a few meetings and do a pregnancy portrait tomorrow, but to spend some time with my family. I love being an auntie, and tonight I documented the Browns while they were winding down from the day and getting ready for bed.

I guess its not SO easy for Millie to wind down when Dad plays "airplane"...

Penelope started kindergarten this year and is learning to read! Here she is showing her skills to Joy...

Jules and Penelope take a silly self-portrait

And Ms. Olive supervises the whole thing from her post in the bed.

Brown Family Portrait

Every year I have shot my sister, Joy's, family portait for their Christmas card. Its really great to be a part of their tradition and to know that these are images that will be important to the girls when they grow up. I love my job.

I just love how right now each member of her family is slightly taller than the next. I thought this was such a cute family portait!!

Holiday PIE!!

I seriously can't believe its the holidays again. This year has absolutely flown by! Joy came down to LA on Friday to get a lot of JB Photography work done in my office (and to second shoot with me at Sunday's wedding) and on Monday we drove to the Bay Area to spend the holiday together!

Today was baking day at my sister's house, so we baked Apple Cranberry pies. And by "we" I mean THEY made the pies, and I documented the making of them. Much more fun for me! However, as fun as it is for me to photograph the pie MAKING, I think maybe I'm more excited about the pie EATING...

YUM!! Tonight we're making the pumpkin pie....

The Mitten House, Redlands

heather & daron.
november 19, 2006

Despite the heat, yesterday's wedding in Redlands was really lovely. Heather & Daron were so enthusiastic, and they were really excited about getting fun shots! They saw each other before the ceremony so we could make the best use of the afternoon light.

There were so many beautiful aspects to Heather & Daron's wedding that I have made a slideshow if you're interested in seeing more. Just click here!

On a sidenote, I used the amber top on Gary Fong's lightsphere for the reception, and I was very pleased with the natural-looking results.

another month, another PUG

I am the leader of the Los Angeles PUG (Pictage User Group) which happens on the third Wednesday of each month. Tonight was one of those Wednesdays. I like leading the PUG. Its fun to have people over, and we learn a lot from each other. Plus everyone always brings delicious treats. Fewer people had to sit on the floor today...Check out the gang enjoying the new couches!!

And THANK YOU to William and Naomi Henshell of Henshell Photography for being our Studio Spotlight this month. William is a musician and Naomi is a fantastic graphic artist, and together they bring a very unique and cool sensibility to their photography.

"some assembly required" and other ways to procrastinate

I have sloooowly been re-doing my meeting space since January. My new couches were finally delivered last week, and my good friend, Dina Douglass recently saw the Kingston cabinet at Crate & Barrel and said it would go perfectly in my house. She was totally right! I had Jessica pick one up today, and we spent the afternoon putting it together. Just in time for my Pictage User Group meeting tonight!

Figuring things out...

Olive tries to help...

A little encouragement from Olive

FINISHED!! I think my albums look great in there. I'm so happy!

And for your viewing pleasure... new couches in Jules Bianchi Photography colors!! There is an orange clock on its way, and I think new paint is in my near future as well, but for now...

Santa Monica

I was really excited to meet Bear. Bear is John & Stephanie's dog, and he is going to be in their wedding next July. I drove to Santa Monica to start the shoot at Bear's house. And because John & Stephanie like to hang out at the local pub and play games, afterwards, that's where we headed!

At the house.

Stephanie has a great smile...

...but John is a pretty close runner-up!

John & Stephanie enjoyed the pretty afternoon light by the tree in the front yard...

...while Bear made sure that no one came in to bother us.

Taking a break to play.

Family portrait.

I love Bear's face in this shot. I think he sees a LOT of kissing in this house!

Like I said....

At the pub.

Shuffle board - one of Stephanie's favorite games.

John is a big Bronco's fan, but Stephanie loves the Eagles... I guess every couple has their differences...

I think they just look so cool hanging out here.

We sneaked into the alley to finish up the photo shoot for the day. I am really looking forward to shooting John & Stephanie's wedding next July because they are really fun to hang out with. I hope Olive gets to meet Bear very soon.

Newport Beach

Today I drove down to Newport Beach to photograph Jennifer & DJ. I am excited to photograph their wedding next year because after checking out their big photo album, I can tell that their friends are just as fun as they are!

We started at their cute apartment and then headed on down to the beach.
