My 2006 Christmas card

I hope that everyone has been having a fun Holiday Season. I am so grateful to my wonderful clients who allow me to have a job that I genuinely love. It has been such a true pleasure not only working with all of you, but getting to know you and your families as well.

Now that everyone has seen their lovely Christmas ornaments, I am posting my 2006 Christmas card. I am so happy with how it turned out!

For Christmas this year, I had these gorgeous ornaments made for each of my clients with my favorite photo from their wedding in the center. Of course, I had to get one with Ms. Olive on it... they are too adorable!!

Girls Night Out!

As an early Christmas gift, last night my mother took my sister and I to a fun cooking class to learn how to make a fancy French meal. We cooked up lamb ribs, made onion custard tartlets and whipped up a raspberry souflee. Making the food was fun, but eating our delicous meal afterward was even better!!

THANK YOU, MOM!! It was so much fun!

Take AIM...

Earlier this year, I shot a gorgeous wedding in Pasadena. I knew it was going to be a large job, so along with my second shooter, Jennifer Zivolich, and my buddy, Rob Evans, I also brought Amy Trahant of Take AIM Photography because she had admired my work and asked if she could come shoot on a job with me.

Today, I got the CUTEST card from her (along with a very thoughtful gift certificate to my FAVORITE spot, Olympic Spa) and I just had to share it here. THANK YOU, Amy!

The Argyle Spa

The 2006 Bridal Bar Holiday party was held last night at the very hip Argyle Spa on the Sunset Strip. It was pretty great to be able to have a mojito and a manicure at the same time!

I love this shot Jenny took of me getting my nails done!

Rolling Hills

Jinly & Kazuya got engaged on Friday and contacted me Saturday to come shoot their engagement portraits today! They seem very excited to be getting married and despite the fact that they warned me they were not very affectionate, they are obviously very into each other. I drove down to Rolling Hills this afternoon to photograph them at both Jinly's home and her father's home.

I was overwhelmed by the amazing art in their houses and so happy that I'd just purchased the two new wide angle lenses!! Check out some of my favorites:

wide angles

Samy's no tax sale was this weekend, and I couldn't help myself... I had to have a new lens!

I love my vintage panoramic camera, but it is very finicky (its nearly as old as I am...come to think of it, I'm kind of finicky too... hmmm) and its becoming harder and harder to incorporate film into my jobs.

Today I bought the 11-18mm from Tamron. Because this lens is specifically made for the 1.6 crop factor, I can now have a super wide angle on either my 30D & 20D! (sorry for the mini-geekout)

My tiny family

This is the first weekend in ten weeks where I haven't had a job to shoot. Its SO nice to not have to be anywhere except for holiday parties this weekend!!

Of course, I can't go long without shooting SOMETHING, so I decided to test the 17 - 50mm lens I bought my mother for Christmas. As per usual, I used Abigail & Olive as my test subjects.

I feel very lucky to have the cutest pets. Try not to be too jealous.

Tree People Portraits

I feel so fortunate to have become friends with the uber creative and very successful Wanda Wen of Soolip Paperie & Press. Wanda needed a new headshot for her website, so we decided to make it a combination headshot/family portrait at the Tree People park.

Olive & other ways to procrastinate

Olive is so proud of her pop art! I have a lot of work to do tonight, so of course I'm spending my time shooting pictures of my cute cute dog.

Leather Craftsmen Pizza Party!!

Each holiday season, Leather Craftsmen throws a fun pizza party at Robert Evan's studio in North Hollywood for all of its clients. That party was yesterday, so I hung out with a gaggle of wedding photographers all day! The battery died on my point-and-shoot almost immediately, so I have Becker and Cat of Next Exit Photography to thank for the images.

There were SOO many cool people there, but ... you get the idea with these few pics... its really fun to see everyone in one place like that. Thanks, LC, for the good time!

Here is Jules Bianchi and rockstar, Robert Evans (of recent Tom & Katie fame - way to go, Rob!)

Happy St. Nicholas Day!!!

For those of you who don't know, St. Nicholas Day is typically celebrated in Eastern Europe - its the day that St. Nick leaves gifts in the shoes of the good children. My mother is Ukrainian, and growing up, I always found nice surprises on December 6th. Its such a fun way to kick off the holiday season!! (If you don't get coal, that is...)

This morning Olive woke me with her barking... I was so excited to find that St. Nicholas had left me a nice gift at the front door! I have a sneaking suspicion that St. Nick might live in San Francisco because there is a lot of nice things from Ghiradelli in my basket!

What do you think, MOM??? (I LOVE YOU!)

Liz's surprise 40th...

I'm really far behind on the blogging... we're still on Saturday here... After Stephanie & John's BBQ, I headed over to Hollywood for my good friend, Liz's, surprise 40th birthday party. Her husband had organized all of her friends to meet at a tiny restaurant for dinner. We decorated the entire thing with huge posters of her, and she was genuinely surprised to see us all there!

I love you, Liz! Happy birthday!!!

The Holidays are here...

Saturday was a day of many parties, and I'm already behind on my blog! I have to be somewhere RIGHT NOW so I'm going to post about the first one first, and the others later tonight.

My first holiday party of the season was Stephanie & John's barbeque at their house. I will be shooting their wedding on July 21st, and after I did their engagement shoot last month and met their dog, Bear, I knew Olive had to meet him, too!

I love the Christmas spirit!

Olive & Bear love each other.

Nick needs a good home!!

My good friend, Tina, has such a big heart. She has rescued several dogs and helped place them into good homes. Today, Olive and I met her at the local dog park to photograph Nick, her latest rescue. If you are looking for a super friendly, fun dog, please call her at 323.573.5172.

There were a few other characters at the park today as well...
