Custom PhotoShop presets

I have recently started selling my RAW custom presets, and I love it when photographers who have purchased them email me samples of their work after applying the presets.

I offer over 40 of them now, so shoot me an email if you are interested. jules@julesbianchi.com

Check out these beautiful shots from photographers Mary Crow of Nashville, Tennesse and Margaret Smyth of Northern Ireland. I just love both of their work, and its fun to see how the "jb effects" make their images look so vintage and cool. (Not that they weren't amazing to begin with, of course!)

LA Pictage User Group

I lead the the Los Angeles PUG once a month. Tonight there was a HUGE turn out because Ursula Mentjes, a business coach with Potential Quest, was our speaker. She shared very insightful information as well as leading us through a visualization exercise, and I can see why her services are invaluable!

Patrice Gaspard-Nelson of La Bella Vita was our Studio Spotlight this month. (I would link to her website, but it is still under construction.) Patrice showed us some gorgeous work and passed around the beautiful promo kit she gives to her clients. I love your logo, Patrice!

If you are a Pictage photographer and live in the LA area, you are welcome to join us.

Big turn out tonight...Thank you, Ann, for hosting!

Family photo SAFARI!

Many of you know that my twin sister, Joy, is an essential part of the Jules Bianchi Photography team. She is my second shooter for all Bay Area weddings (and a few lucky Los Angeles ones when we can time it out right!) as well as (award winning) album designer, image editor, publicity manager, etc.

Even though we live far apart, we communicate by cell phone and IM every single day. In fact, we were just IMing tonight when she started sending me images from the safari she just took with her family! She doesn't really have time to go to Africa, but there is an amazing place called Safari West in the lovely wine country of Santa Rosa that will bring Africa to you!

Here are some of Joy's great shots:

On the way to an adventure! (I love that Millie has headphones and Penelope is watching a DVD. When I was a kid, we had to count cars...)

creating a vintage look for your images.

Jennifer Skog (rhymes with Vogue) is a fantastic photographer in the Bay Area. She purchased my RAW PhotoShop presets recently, and today she sent some examples after using them on a few of her amazing images. I love how they give her shots that cool, vintage look! Shoot me an email (jules@julesbianchi.com) if you want more info.

Portraits on Melrose

Although their wedding will be in San Diego this November, Robyn & Jeff live super close to me here in LA. We decided to do the engagement shoot in and around their home which is a block from Melrose Avenue. I love shoots like this because I know that years from now, after they've moved, these photos will be that much more significant to them. Today was really fun and now I'm even more excited to shoot their wedding!

I absolutely fell in LOVE with this amazing wall.

COLOR seems to be the theme this month...

Cute Robyn...

Jeff had a GREAT laugh...

Also included in today's shoot: Shelby, the pup and Senator, the cat.

I love this moment...

Mimi & Hy, Studio City

I shot Ali's wedding back in 2003, and today I photographed the decadent store she and her sister, Leah, opened on Saturday. Click here to see the Mimi & Hy, General Store for the Fabulous splash page! Also, check out the very cool piece that Daily Candy wrote about them today.

There is SO much good stuff to be had there - candles, clothing, bags, books, jewelry...My personal favorite was the funky candy bar that featured gummy deliciousness of all kinds, the fabulous Dylan's chocolates, and many other kinds of treats.

Co-owners, Ali & Leah.

fun with photographers

Tonight I got to hang out with a bunch of my friends - also all wedding photographers. We ate delicious snacks and talked about all kinds of things going on in our industry. Its really fun to get out of the house and hear how other professionals are handling things such as RAW outsourcing, payroll, copyright issues, etc. We even had a mini Lightroom demonstration by Nate.

Thank you to Jen & Nate Berggren of B&G Photography for hosting! Also in attendance, Cat & Adi, Kim Fox, Christine Haws, Laura Kleger, Giselle Macfarlane, Carrie Phillips, April Rocha, Laurie Bailey, Leanna Creel, Veronica Puleo, Tiffany Stern, and Dina Douglass. it was such a nice group and a really fun, informative night.

My funny pets

I adore my pets. Anywhere I go in my house, within a few minutes they are both there. They like to keep me company when I'm working in the office, and they've both recently adopted new places to hang.

Abigail likes it near the computer.

And Olive has decided she likes to sleep under the extra work station.

Baby Grace.

Today I drove over to the unbelievably cute town of Glendora to shoot Grace and her family. And HOW excited was I to meet Harley, the family dog?? He and baby Grace were huge fans of each other...

(For photographers - The vintage look on most of these shots was done with my custom PhotoShop presets. Shoot me an email if you want to learn more!)

Surprise 50th Birthday Party!

Last night I shot a surprise 50th birthday party at the very cool Vert in Hollywood. The event went without a hitch thanks to excellent coordination from The Party Shopper's Yvonne Wolf.

There are tons of shots I love, but I think these few collages give you the idea...

Details, details!

The surprise and Henry's gorgeous family.

The cake.

Well wishes!

Go A's!!

I'm finally back in LA after 10 days in the Bay Area. I have had a wedding every weekend for roughly eight weeks, so it was fun to finally have one with only meetings - no actual shooting. Chris and I hung out in San Francisco and ended up at a ball game in Oakland on Saturday night with Joy's family.

GO A's!!
