We had a fantastic turn-out at last night's Pictage User Group. This is the monthly group that I lead where photographers get together to learn and network. Last night's speaker was accountant Mark Varshawsky of Mark S. Varshawsky & Associates. He really knew his stuff, and if you are looking for a great accountant, I recommend giving him a call.
Thank you to Juan Turcios for being our May Studio Spotlight. He showed a slideshow of really lovely work and told us a little bit about himself and how he became a wedding photographer.
I really appreciate Ann because she allows us to use her home each month to host the PUG. Here she is introducing Mark.
Also, congratulations to Michael Andrews who won the Jules Café Kevin Kubota DVD RAW workflow contest by sending us the best tip or trick. Visit Jules Café to see some other tips and tricks that were sent in!

Natalie & Kyle are my kind of clients. They are crazy about each other, very close with their friends and families and they were ALL about getting great photographs on their wedding day. We had so much time allotted to photography that we were able to get really creative. If you are planning your wedding and want really great photographs, giving your photographer enough time to create them for you is a very important element to remember.

Also, Shannon and I had the pleasure of shooting with Shaun Ring of Shaun Ring Photography who flew out all the way from Kentucky to shoot the wedding with me as part of the Tea for Two mentorship program I offer for photographers. Shaun, you were awesome!!
There are so many images that I love, so come back soon to see the slideshow. For now, here are a few favorites:

Natalie had this something blue sewn into the hem of her gown.

I love this moment Shaun captured when I was shooting the huge group photo.

The Fairmont has this amazing tree in the front, and I just had to get a shot there.

Shannon got this great first dance shot!

Tonight I gave a presentation as part of the Professional Photographers of the Greater Bay Area's May Four Nights. This marks the third time I have spoken for the PPGBA. I am always so flattered when they ask me to speak, but this time I was especially honored to be included in the line-up because the other three speakers are the talented Marc Benjamin, Gene Higa and Anna Kuperberg.
Thank you to everyone who attended and for participating in my talk. I had a really wonderful time!

Shannon & Patrick were married this Saturday at the Crow Canyon Country Club. I love shooting in the Bay Area because my sister, Joy, shoots with me. This time, we also had the pleasure of shooting with Caroline Winata of Tiny Water Photography who joined us as part of her Tea for Two with me. She is an amazing photographer and a really fun person to be around.
I'm speaking for the May 4 Nights for the Professional Photographers of the Greater Bay Area this Tuesday night, so I need to tweak my presentation now. I will put a slideshow together from Shannon & Patrick's wedding soon, so check back for that!
For now, some favorites:

Its 1am and I'm downloading all of the images from the lovely wedding we shot today. I love them so much! One thing I love to do at my weddings is try to come up with a creative way to showcase the wedding rings. Shannon & Patrick had this amazing "wish tree" for their guests to write well wishes and hang them on the tree. This is where we decided to shoot the rings - check it out: (Bed now, more images tomorrow!)

Last night my beautiful cousin, Anna, came over with her adorable boyfriend, Gary. I snapped a few quick shots of them before we headed out to the local bar to get a drink and catch up. Aren't they the cutest??

Dad and I hopped in a cab and headed down to Millennium Park to play tourist for the afternoon.
We fell in love with the BEAN. I love the modern art against the old buildings in this shot.

The Bean is just so bizarre... looks like a wormhole into another dimension ... Maybe it is...!!
My handsome father and some Frank Geary art.
I was thrilled to see bunnies in the middle of the city.
My mother LOVED Buckingham Fountain when she grew up here, so I made sure to get a shot of it for her. Love you, Mom! Wish you were here!

I am in Chicago for the week to spend some time with my family on my father's side. I don't get to see them very often, so its nice to have some time to just hang out.

Being from Hollywood, Olive and her friend, Oscar, decided to try their luck at becoming movie stars. First they went to a fabulous photographer to have their headshots made:

Then they headed on down to the famous Paramount Studios on Melrose Avenue to try their luck!

An uniformed guard stopped them before they could even get in.
They gave him their shiny 8x10 headshots and their most winning smiles....

...but apparently dogs are not allowed on the Paramount Lot.

Today Olive and her friend, Bear, decided to check out some of the scene on Hollywood Boulevard. They had heard Lassie's paws were in the cement, but all they could find were hands, feet and horsehooves... before too many shots could be taken, they were asked to leave. Well!
Six blocks down or so they found Lassie's star! In the shade!

Julie & Yas' engagement shoot was a departure for me because we split the shoot into two parts. We met at 5pm to shoot in the pretty afternoon light at City Hall in Pasadena, then we took a dinner break and resumed shooting again on Colorado Bouvelard after the sun went down. Julie & Yas have infectious smiles, and I can't wait to shoot their wedding this July.

I am very particulart about music, and Earlimart has long been one of my absolute favorite bands. I just love their sound and have seen them play out at several small venues around LA. I'm really sad that I'll be out of town when they play at the EchoPlex on May 17th, but I'm getting excited for their new album, "Hymn & Her" to come out.
