Another Jules Cafe contest

You might remember that I spoke at Kevin Kubota's Digital Photography Bootcamp last month. Man, that guy's got skills! I have been using his actions for years...Check out the online store if you want to pick some up for yourselves:

The Jules Café contest is going to be a fun one. The prize is Kubota's latest product-- the award winning RAW Workflow for Lightroom!

Contest results!!

Congratulations to Vanessa SJ who correctly guessed the answer to this week's contest, "What the Heck is that??" I was really impressed with the amount of guesses, and I can't believe only Vanessa guessed correctly! Your Starbuck's giftcard on its way!!

I own many vintage cameras, so I thought it would be fun to use one in the contest. I shot this Kodak Instamatic with my macro lens and focused only on the flash.

What the heck is that?

This week I did a really gorgeous boudoir session with one of my brides, but unfortunately, I can't show any of my images here. Not only are they are a little too private for public viewing, but the photographs are a secret gift for her groom, and we don't want to ruin the surprise by having him see them here!

Instead we are going to have another contest... so let's see who can tell me what the heck this is?? I know its not nearly as exciting, but its still fun.

Contest results!!

Okay okay... I admit that I am completely obsessed with Blythe. I fell in love with her after I saw Gina Garan's book.

Anyway, the contest winner (and Starbucks card recipient) is blog reader Scot who came up with the following Blythe trivia:

1)The Blythe dolls were created in 1972.

2)They were made by Kenner and produced in Hong Kong.

3)The original dolls were only in production for one year.

4)The original dolls featured blinkable eyes that changed the eye color with the pull of a string in the back of the dolls head.

5)Gina Garan, a photographer, is probably most credited for the return to popularity of the Blythe dolls.

My Blythe also has the string in back that will change her eyes, so this is the same doll in all four photos. And she was customized especially for me! If you ever need to get me a gift, you can't go wrong with something Blythe!

Who the heck is that?

This week's contest is all about one of my obsessions, and I don't think she will be too hard to identify...

SO l not only want you to tell me who the heck that is, but I want to learn some interesting TRIVIA about her. We will see who comes up with the most obscure fact!

Extra points if you can tell me what is in her eye...

Contest results!!

I am really impressed with all of the thoughtful guesses people came up with to answer the question, "What the heck is that?" in last week's contest!

Although there were many CLOSE answers, Michelle Wun is the actual the winner as she guessed EXACTLY what the image is - the off-center of a sunflower.

I shot the sunflower with not only a macro lens but a magnifying glass over that!! Here is the whole image from last week's contest:

What the heck is that?

In my life, the early months of the year tend to be spent making albums and booking weddings. This can result in quite boring blog entries. (Although if you'd like to take a peek at my kick-ass new 14x5.5" Bridal Bar portfolio album, just click here. Its gonna rock the house.)

I have decided that to keep myself inspired and my loyal blog readers excited and involved, I am going to start a weekly game. In honor of the cool Starbucks goodie basket my father sent me for Valentine's Day, this week's winner gets a Starbucks certificate!
