Four Seasons Hotel, Beverly Hills

I love shooting with my friends! Joshua Bobrove of Robert Evans' Studio asked me to shoot with him at the Four Seasons Hotel to help cover an extravagant 65th birthday party. The theme was "Larry's World."

Check out the crazy details!

The GORGEOUS dining room:

This stunning globe took over 2400 white roses to create!

There were THREE bands! A funky Country band...

the fabulous West Coast Music...

AND a super secret star headliner that I am not at liberty to blog about!! Suffice it to say he has a new album coming out and it was a surprise to all the guests.

For the party favor, everyone was given framed 8x10's of themselves that had been shot earlier in the evening.

Thanks for asking me to come along, Josh! I had a really fun time.

Richard Nixon Library

I'm a little behind on my blogging, but I'm going to try to catch up this week!

Very early on Wednesday morning, I drove to the Richard Nixon Library in Yorba Linda to photograph the creation of a new presidential library & museum. The head of national archives was there as well as the head of the private Nixon foundation. The event was to celebrate the handover from the private Nixon foundation to the National Archives. 42 million documents will be coming, including all of nixon's offical records and most likely the famous WaterGate tapes as well!

Surprise 50th Birthday Party!

Last night I shot a surprise 50th birthday party at the very cool Vert in Hollywood. The event went without a hitch thanks to excellent coordination from The Party Shopper's Yvonne Wolf.

There are tons of shots I love, but I think these few collages give you the idea...

Details, details!

The surprise and Henry's gorgeous family.

The cake.

Well wishes!

Vert

Tonight I shot a surprise 50th birthday party at Vert in Hollywood. I will blog more tomorrow, but for now I'm posting one of my favorite shots. Henry's wife is telling him how much she loves him, and his friends are all watching behind her.

Sephardic Temple

When Sterling Franken-Steffen, asked me to shoot a bar mitzvah with him, I readily agreed. Not only because I like shooting with Sterling, but because it is the type of event I don't normally shoot, and I thought it would be a great experience for me.

I was in charge of getting great portraits of all the kids.

I just loved the Bar Mitzvah boy... he was so serious and listened to all the speeches very attentively.

He said his own speech perfectly.

on to the party...

I think Sterling likes his job... such a cutie...

...and I just love this shot he got of me!!

Reebok & the Rookie Premiere

Today my good friend, Tiffany Shine, and I were hired by Reebok to shoot four new Rookies (Laurence Marony of the New England Patriots, Sinorice Moss of the New York Giants, Brandon Williams of the San Francisco 49ers and Kamerion Wimberly of the Cleveland Browns) as they conducted a two-hour athletic clinic with the kids of Sumac Elementary School in Agoura Hills. The kids had an amazing time playing games with the guys and getting autographs (even on their hands and shirts!) and winning cool prizes like autographed jerseys. And while I cannot actually post any images of the athletes themselves, (and we got some great stuff!) I can give you a little flavor of the event.

A Soolip Wedding

I have had the good fortune of becoming friends with Soolip's founder, Wanda Wen, and photographed Soolip's gorgeous custom letterpress invitations as a favor for her a few months back. This past Sunday, she asked me to be the event photographer (as well as a vendor) for the elite bridal faire, A Soolip Wedding which took place at the Hotel Roosevelt in Hollywood.

This is the third time I have been involved with A Soolip Wedding, and I would have to say that this particular event was the most spectacular. Smoothly pulled off by Plan A Events, everyone had an amazing time!

To see ALL images from A Soolip Wedding, click here.

Here are some custom stamps made by PhotoStamps (which I'm going to be offering very soon!) and of course, no party is complete without the GIFT BAGS!

Details, details, details!!

So so many delicious, beautiful treats!

Conversations with experts were short "classes" on things such as these two, "The Art of Gift Wrapping" with Soolip's Wanda Wen, and "Los Angeles Weddings Style" with Los Angeles Weddings Magazine editor, Kathy Nenneker.

An incredible bridal show with gowns by Anna Maier~Ulla Maija Couture and jewelry by Harry Winston.

There were unbelievable prizes in the raffle. This lucky lady won a trip to FIJI worth $5000 for her honeymoon!

Casino Night!

When I first moved to Los Angeles back in 1992, I worked behind a desk in a talent management company for some really amazing people. Its remarkable that we've kept in touch all this time because tonight, I was working for them again! However this time it was in the capacity of photographer, shooting their annual Christmas party.

The theme of the party was Casino night, and I stayed two hours over my allotted time because we were having so much fun!

We do not remember days, we remember moments

Tonight another photographer friend, Sara France, told me this crazy story about how a pregnancy portrait she was hired to shoot ended up becoming her documenting the surprise early birth of the baby instead! She said she was so honored to capture those moments for her clients and she felt changed because of it.

It got me to thinking about my own family and how lucky I was to document the birth of both of my nieces. It reminded me of this lovely quote I read last week: "We do not remember days, we remember moments." I think this may be my new mantra because it has so much to do with why photography appeals to me. I am very aware of how fleeting life is, and there are so many moments I just want to hold on to.

Amelia's birth was momentous for my first niece, Penelope, because it marked the end of her life as a single child. However, she knows what great friends my sister and I are and how much fun we have together, so she couldn't wait to have a sister in her life, too.

These photographs are now over a year old (perhaps some of you saw the photographs I did of Millie's first birthday) but they define the important moments from that day for me:
