I first started photographing the Rowen family when it was Ashley was the only child, and she was very tiny. Its very cool watching the family grow! This time, they decided to get shots of the kids as a surprise for Dad!!

I have been photographing the O'Donnell family for years, and I just adore them. This year, we waited to take the family photograph until the newest member, Maeve, was born (December 10th!) Because we waited so long, we were able to include the Christmas tree which was just decorated last night. Are they not just about the cutest family you've ever seen?

This past Monday, I drove down to San Jose to photograph the adorable McNultys. Of course I loved that their dog & cat were such a huge part of the family! Check out a few of my favorites:

Each year I shoot my sister, Joy's, family portrait for their Christmas card. This year they met me in Napa in a sunflower patch. So beautiful!
Check in tomorrow for Day Two of Rachel & Dan's wedding!

Yesterday I drove over to the lovely Pacific Palisades to photograph the Rowen Family. The sisters told me that they are best friends, and I could really tell that they are! They are so cute and were remarkably good listeners, too. Thank you, girls, for sharing your Halloween costumes with me!!

I photographed Grace, Margret & Ron when Grace was a year old and again when she was two years old. For Grace's three year old photographs, the family decided to do the shoot in Napa since they were spending the weekend there for Rachel & Dan's wedding. Because Rachel hired me to shoot her wedding after Margret told her about me (THANK YOU, Margret!!) I was in Napa, too! It all worked out perfectly.
A few favorites from the day:

I'm back in the Bay Area for the next ten days... today I helped Joy with a wedding SHE was shooting (more on that later!) and then drove to San Mateo to shoot Jonah, Casey & Tuan's family portraits. I love watching my client's families grow! I shot Casey & Tuan's lovely wedding back in September of 2005 and then their maternity portraits last November. There are sooo many cute ones from today, but here is a tiny sample of favorites:

Yesterday I drove down to Orange to shoot Jacob's family portraits. Jacob wasn't born yet when I shot his Auntie Christy's wedding last October, so it was fun to meet a new member of the family. And what a gorgeous family they are!
Some favs:
Jacob was quite serious during the shoot.
I love this shot of Mom and Dad.

Love the vintage look of these next three...

My most favorites from the day were at the local park.

Last year I shot the Maroulis Family at their home in Palo Alto - this past Sunday, I revisited them for their 2007 family portrait. Its fun to watch my client's familes grow!

Today I drove over to the unbelievably cute town of Glendora to shoot Grace and her family. And HOW excited was I to meet Harley, the family dog?? He and baby Grace were huge fans of each other...

I shot Jennifer & Matthew's gorgeous wedding back in October of 2005. Today I spent a few hours with their new baby, Caroline. She is an absolute DOLL and will be celebrating her first birthday next month. Happy Birthday, Caroline!

I come to the Bay Area a lot for work, but the benfit is that my family lives here so I get to spend time with them when I'm around. Yesterday my step-father asked if I would photograph them as a Mother's Day gift for his mom. I think a family portrait is a GREAT Mother's Day idea! Give me a call if you do, too!
My little brother sure isn't little anymore...

I love this shot of my mom, step-father and brother in their own yard...

My job is really too much fun. Jalen will be 13 next month, and his mom wanted fun, natural portraits that would really reveal who he is right now. (A super cool kid.) Jalen is also a rockstar basketball player, so after we were finished with the portraits, we headed down to the courts so I could get action shots while Jalen played hoops with his brother.

Yesterday I had the pleasure of meeting Sid, Ilana's beautiful dog. Sid has been a part of the family for over 13 years, and Ilana really wanted to get some portraits of herself and her baby together. A woman after my own heart....

I feel so fortunate to have become friends with the uber creative and very successful Wanda Wen of Soolip Paperie & Press. Wanda needed a new headshot for her website, so we decided to make it a combination headshot/family portrait at the Tree People park.

I have known Alya and Hannah since Hannah was three years old. It is really amazing to watch Hannah become a beautiful young woman and to see what good friends she is with her mom. Its fun to watch them pal around together. Yesterday I drove out to Berkeley to hang out with them at their house and shoot a few casual portraits in their backyard. Alya has started her own gardening business and needed a headshot or two for her upcoming website. I'll post the link when its ready!

I shot Casey & Tuan's wedding back in September of 2005. Today I drove to San Mateo to shoot pregnancy portraits of them at their home. We had fun doing the shoot around their cute house, and I can't wait to meet their little one next year!

Every year I have shot my sister, Joy's, family portait for their Christmas card. Its really great to be a part of their tradition and to know that these are images that will be important to the girls when they grow up. I love my job.

I just love how right now each member of her family is slightly taller than the next. I thought this was such a cute family portait!!

the fox family.
Justin Fox is a talented musician, and I have shot the cover of a few of his CDs. I just adore his family. I shoot their Christmas card every year and have had fun watching their family grow.
Justin recently sent me a photograph from an old Paul McCartney album and told me that he wanted to try to emulate it for this year's Christmas card.
Here is the album cover:
Now, Justin has more children in his family and they are all older than the two in the photo above... but this was our good effort to match the photo!! I just love the flare!
The adorable little tow-heads, Farrah, Brennan, Kennedy & Holland.

I shot Heather's wedding a few years ago, so it was really fun meeting her two adorable children last Sunday for a casual family portrait. Where did she come up with such a COOL name for her daughter, I wonder? This was the first shoot of three I had last Sunday in the Bay Area, so in the interest of trying to catch up on my blog, I'm only posting a FEW favorites!

One of the Bay Area mother's groups called me to organize a group photo session. On Tuesday, I photographed all 12 children at the Clayton Pumpkin Patch. They were each around one year old and all dolled up in their Halloween costumes!

grace.
Last year, Grace and her family came to my mother's house for me to photograph them when she was a year and a half old. This past Sunday, I drove to Redwood City to photograph the family in their new home. It was fun to see my images on their walls from last year's shoot...it really made my job feel worthwhile and meaningful.
I absolutely LOVE this family, and I had so much fun documenting Grace playing in her yard.

This past Sunday I did a family portait at Santa Clara University. The boys were very sweet and rambunctious. I LOVE the photos because they really seem to capture their spirit.

The Maroulis Family.
What an adorable family!! This past Sunday I drove back down to Palo Alto to shoot their portraits at their home. I am happy to go to any location to shoot portraits, but I've always felt family portraits will be more significant years later if they are done at home!
Some favorites:

the rode family.
Yesterday I did a family portrait for a really nice family in Westlake Village. I love documenting people because I am so nostalgic, and I am aware of how great it is to have fun shots of the most important people in your life! I strive to capture people's true personalities when I shoot, and I just love what I saw yesterday.

I shot first-year portraits for Olivia's two older siblings, Kate and Will, and today was Olivia's turn. Even though the family has moved to Utah, they made sure to call me when they were in town to capture Olivia for her first birthday.

Today I had the pleasure of photographing an adorable little lady named Grace. She is as smart as a whip, and super cute to boot. I spent an hour or two playing, er... shooting Grace and her family amongst some beautiful yellow leaves!
There were far too many favorites to choose from, but just to give you an idea...

Today I photographed the Fentress Family...well, only the men are still Fentresses. The immediate family was together for Thanksgiving along with all of their spouses, children and dogs. This was the first time in over two years that the entire family was in one place, and Mrs. Fentress wanted to document that for her 2005 Christmas card.
There were several good ones, but this one is my favorite:

I just love this family! This is my fourth time shooting with the Romano Family and I am starting to feel like part of the clan. First I shot Gina and Tim's engagement portraits at USC, then I shot the ladies of the family down in Newport Beach when they did a surprise portrait for their dad in 2003. In 2004, I shot Gina & Tim's wedding at the very cool Cathedral of Our Lady in downtown Los Angeles.
Today was a big family portrait with Mom, Dad, sisters, spouses and the newest member of the family, Karina.

the adorable o'donnells.
I have watched the O'Donnell family grow over the past six years as I've photographed them for their yearly Christmas card. (Next year, there will be a new member of the family to add to the pictures!) For this year's card, we started at the house to include Kimmy, the dog, and then went down to the Beach Club in the Palisades to finish off at the beach! The overcast day was perfect for soft shadows and didn't deter the kids from playing near the water.

Audrey's mommy was still pregnant when she met me at A Soolip Wedding earlier this year. However, she held on to my business card and called me to shoot Audrey's one monthiversary today. Audrey is so tiny! She's not going to be like this for long, however, that is why we are going to do portraits every three months until she's a year old. Audrey's room is decorated in soft pink and green. She has the cutest smile, complete with dimples!! I couldn't believe it. Check it out for yourself:
