Five Page Feature in The Knot!

I noticed on my friend, Jessica Claire's blog that the North Carolina Knot featured one of her weddings. Way to go, Jess!

But it reminded me....

The Southern California Knot came out recently, and I completely forgot to do a little bragging!! Wendy and John, whose wedding I shot this past April, have a five page spread of their Greystone Mansion wedding featured in the latest issue! To see more of Wendy and John's wedding, please click here.

Congratulations Wendy & John!

Costanoa, Part Two (the Wedding)

Anna and I had so much fun shooting this wedding together. I'm so glad she asked me to come along! I just loved working with Julie and James, and he is an identical twin, just like me. He and his brother are part of an hilarious comedy sketch group called Kasper Hauser. They actually did a bit AT the wedding and had guests rolling in their seats. Very hard to shoot when you're laughing...

Pigeon Point Lighthouse is a landmark to find Costanoa. I stopped and grabbed a shot on my way into the wedding.

My favorite part of the ceremony is the walk out. The couple is always SO happy at this moment, and its my favorite moment to capture!!

Costanoa, San Francisco

I am in the San Fransico Bay Area, and this weekend I have the extreme pleasure of working with the wildly talented Anna Kuperberg. Anna and I met in Vegas last year at the Digital Wedding Forum Convention and we really hit it off. Today I shot the rehearsal dinner of the unbelievably cute Julie and James, and tomorrow Anna and I will be shooting their wedding together. Both the wedding and rehearsal are at Costanoa, a very cool resort and lodge in Pescadero with an stunning view of the ocean.

The rehearsal dinner was a low-key BBQ complete with wildflowers in jars, red checked table cloths and fiddlers to entertain.

A few favs from the rehearsal dinner:

All Saints Church, Pasadena

trisha & travis.

man, am I tired. but as usual, I can't sleep. So I'm blogging. Today I got up at the still-dark hour of 6:30am to get ready for today's wedding. I was excited about it because

a.) I think All Saints Church is gorgeous (I shot Eric Stoltz wedding there on July 16th with my esteemed colleague, John Riedy) and

b.) I think Trisha and Travis are gorgeous (I used images from their engagement shoot in my last Inside Weddings Magazine ad!)

I LOVE shooting the details at my weddings, and I couldn't believe it when I heard that Trisha's mother MADE most of the intricate center pieces and details of the Fall themed wedding.

One last thing, Trisha and Travis are avid bikers, and as a send-off they rode off on vintages bikes into the Pasadena sunset as their guests pelted them with Fall leaves. Really gorgeous colors.

Surf & Sand Resort

jennifer and matthew.

Today's wedding was a marathon of five different locations - we started and ended at the beautiful oceanfront Surf & Sand Resort in Laguna Beach. Matthew is British, and in true British tradition, there was a pool going on how long the best man's toast would be. It ended up being 21 minutes long, and the prize was $120! The winner gave it to the hotel staff as a tip.

Sooo many favorites to choose from!!

Rancho Las Lomas

pam and joe.

My good friend (and talented wedding photographer), Dina Douglass once told me, if you ever meet with clients for a wedding at Rancho Las Lomas do anything you can to book the job! Pam and Joe were married there, and besides the fact that they are the most beautiful couple, the venue is definitely one of the coolest I have ever shot at. The grounds are not only picturesque, but there are unusual animals scattered about. The animals do seem to spend most of their time sleeping, but we got a few great shots!

Here are a bunch (certainly not all!) of my favorites:

The Montage Resort

lailani and francis.

Today's gorgeous event was at the spectacular Montage Hotel in Orange County. Lailani and Francis spared no detail, and Lani was fortunate to have her cousin, Teresa, acting as wedding coordinator to ensure a smooth event.

Of course the flowers were amazing because they were provided by the extremely talented R. J. Balthazar.

A Vintage Wedding in Coloma

aimee & erik.

Today's wedding was in and around Coloma, California. As with all Northern California weddings, my second shooter for the day was my twin sister, Joy. I love shooting with her because the day is always that much more fun! Aimee and Erik had a gorgeous wedding in the Gold Country complete with a vintage firetruck (Erik is a volunteer fire fighter) and a ceremony at a vintage church. We started the day at the vintage-style World Famous Barber Jon's where the men got a beer and a close shave!

His and Her Ceremonies, Los Feliz

althea and david.

Today's wedding was a crazy twelve hour event, but the time just flew by because we were having so much fun. Althea and David met as next door neighbors when they were teenagers, so they have been together for a long long time. Because of this, their wedding party was no less than 20 of their closest friends, and that doesn't include the three adorable flower girls!

Althea and David had TWO ceremonies today - a full Catholic mass, and a lovely outdoor Jewish ceremony in the garden of the private residence where the reception was held.

The entire event was pulled off without a hitch by the suberb talents of Tracy Serreno of RSVP Event & Wedding Design.

David is super cool in my book because not only was he excited when I pulled out my Holga and loved the lensbaby shots I showed him, but he had just bought himself the Canon 20D to take on his honeymoon! Here are a some (but certainly not all) of my favorites:

Wattles Mansion, Hollywood

Today I had the great privilege of shooting with my good friend and talented photographer, Tiffany Nainkin. She shot with me a few weddings back, so today I returned the favor! The bride was really stunning, and she and her husband were really fun and easy going which makes for GREAT photographs!

The wedding was at the beautiful Wattles Mansion, and these are my favorite shots of the day:

St. Francis Winery, Sonoma

tuan & casey

What a fun wedding. First of all, I love going to the Bay Area for weddings because I get to shoot with my sister, Joy, and always have such a good time (not to mention we sometimes have the opportunity to do our famous dance... those of you who know what I'm talking about consider yourselves lucky!!) Today's wedding was no exception. Tuan and Caitlin (aka Casey by her loved ones) were married at
St. Francis Winery in Sonoma. It was a gorgeous day out - not too hot - and to protect their guests from heat, Tuan and Casey thoughtfully provided parasols. I love this shot because you can see their kiss right through the parasol!

success with the lensbaby! I was excited to give the new lensbaby a try at an actual wedding... its really hard to focus, but I thought this shot of lovely caitlin was particularly cool...

To add a little ambience, the pathways were lined with candle-lit bags. I thought it was really romantic...

I decided to cross process the roll from the swinglens camera and just got all the images back! how beautiful is this??

Pasadena Museum of History

laura & david

This whole wedding went flawlessly thanks to the skillful talents of event coordinator Josephine Gallella of Weddings by Josephine.

I would also like to mention that Laura had absolutely incredible flowers designed by Debbie Fields of Floral Fields.

How much do I love kids at weddings??? And there were no less than SIX flower girls at this one!! They were aged six months to eight years old and were absolutely adorable.

laura & david are the reason I bought my uber awesome Horizont Swinglens camera. I LOVE it!! I thought this photo was particularly cool and really showed off the gorgeous Pasadena Museum of History where we did all of the portraits.

back at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel!

alma & jim

For today’s wedding I traveled again to San Francisco for a wedding at the lovely Sir Francis Drake Hotel. Being on their preferred vendor list, I shoot there a lot!

This wedding was just so perfect; the stunning church, nestled amongst the modern city-scape, was built in 1913 and is a historical landmark. What really struck me, however, were the bright orange roses Alma chose for her bouquet, and how excited her adorable nieces were to be the flowergirls! Jim served in Iraq and wore his uniform for the ceremony. The couple was absolutley glowing with joy, and it was an honor to shoot their wedding.

I just love the expression on Alma's face when her new husband brandishes his SWORD to cut their wedding cake!!

I shot a roll of film to cross process as well. i just love the super saturation of colors here...I've decided to use the gorgeous shot of Alma looking out the window of her limousine as my new business card!

Temecula winery wedding

My good friend and talented photographer, Jessica Verma, got married today! My good friend, Becker, shot her wedding and even though I attended her wedding as their friend, I couldn't help but shoot! She is so lovely and her wedding was gorgeous.

Long Beach Hyatt

stefanie & josh.

Stefanie and Josh hired me over the phone because they were living in New York when they were planning their wedding. We met when they came to California to firm up some plans and to do an engagement shoot with me.

They are the sweetest couple and were just so willing to have fun and go with all of my ideas on their wedding day! Also, I'm happy to announce that after seeing the slide show I put on during Stefanie and Josh's reception, their friends, Mandy and Tim hired me to shoot their wedding next year! (Check out their engagement portraits here!!)

Here are a few of my favorites from the day

I also decided to bring along my holga for fun, and I really love how this photo came out with all the cool flare!

Sir Francis Drake Hotel, revisited

Sara & Scott

I love shooting in the Bay Area because my family is there. Usually my sister is my second shooter when I work there, and we always have a ball together! We shot Sara and Scott's wedding at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel. Because I am on the preferred vendor list and end up shooting quite a few weddings there, I'm constantly looking for ways to make each wedding unique. I grabbed a shot of Sara looking out the huge windows on the mezzanine of the hotel. And I love the motion in the shot with Sara and Scott dancing in front of the hotel.

Shooting with Joy just makes the wedding that much more fun for me!!

Sir Francis Drake Hotel

elena and matt

Elena and Matt met in film school and decided to use their mutual love of movies as the theme to their wedding. It was a cool idea complete with their name in lights on the ballroom wall!

The flowers by Nancy Liu Chin were unbelievably gorgeous which certainly makes my job easier!

I have shot at the Sir Francis Drake Hotel quite a few times, so I'm constantly trying to come up with something creative and different for each wedding there. I like the shot of Elena and Matt kissing outside of the hotel with all the cars passing by. Here are a few of my favorites from the day:

Three Arches, Coto De Caza

michelle & dakin

I drove down to the charming Coto De Caza for Michelle and Dakin's wedding. What a cool place! Three Arch Catering is owned by the lovely Cynthia Sieloff who was really great to work with.

In lieu of a veil, Michelle wore a hip flower in her hair. She was quite the stylish bride and provided parasols for all of her girls!

Coto de Caza has a cute little park, and I was really excited to get some fun shots there. I was thrilled that Michelle and Dakin were so willing to be playful and we got some great shots!
