How fun! The Japanese "Wedding Style in Vogue" magazine featured an image I shot last year at Stephanie & John's Shutters on the Beach wedding. The article is about the American trend for mothers of the bride or groom to wear white on the wedding day. In fact, although the image featured is of Stephanie and her mom, BOTH Stephanie and John's mothers wore white that day!
Last September, I shot the gorgeous wedding of Nikoo & Hossein in Bel Air. I'm so excited to announce that it is going to be featured on the July 13 episode of "Platinum Weddings," a Women's Entertainment Television (WE) program. "Platinum Weddings" follows the design, planning and execution of elaborate weddings. Set your Tivos!!
Congratulations to my clients Julie & Alex! Their lovely Greystone Mansion wedding is being featured in the Society section of Westside Today's Beverly Hills 90210 Magazine. I photographed their wedding last May, and if you'd like to see more images, you can see the blog entry here.
It was very difficult to pick my favorites from all the weddings I've shot and second shot on this year to make my 2007 Wedding Greatest Hits slideshow. I want to tell you how fortunate I feel every day to have such a fulfilling job and amazing clients. Thank you to all of my clients who have trusted me to create images for them from their most important day.
The rain here in Los Angeles departed just in time for Heryati & Michael's wedding this past Sunday. We started the day at the home of Heryati's parents, took portraits at the lovely Descanso Gardens, shot the marriage celebration at St. Felicitas and Perpetua Church in San Marino, and then headed downtown to Patina at the Walt Disney Concert Hall for the reception.
I love Heryati and Michael because even though they've been together for over 10 years, they were both still so sweetly emotional on their wedding day!
I love this simple shot that Shannon took of Heryati's fantastic shoes:
And I also love this one that Joy caught when they tied the sash of Heryati's Monique Lhuillier gown!
Michael gave his bride a quick kiss as they got to the end of the aisle...
There was a big sign that read "happiness" in Chinese as we entered Heryati's house! I thought it was the perfect place to hang the rings. I also adored the sweet inscription inside both of their rings.
At Descanso Gardens...
I love this cute pose Shannon shot!
Thanks, Shannon, for this excellent establishing shot...I love how you can see downtown in the background.
Michael gave a very thoughtful speech to his new wife.
I thought this self portrait of me, Joy & Shannon Lott taken with my 24-70mm was really funny. The three of us have such a good time together!
Galleria Park Hotel & Foreign Cinema, San Francisco
deborah & mark november 17, 2007
This past Saturday was really fantastic. I already love shooting in San Francisco, but the fact Deborah & Mark's wedding was in an uber cool art gallery/restaurant/vintage movie theater made it all the more fun. We did most of the portraits early at the funky Galleria Park Hotel because the ceremony happened after sundown. The aisle was lined with candles that really added to the drama of the event. I love Fall colors, and Deborah really made the most of them as you will see below.
Lastly, I want to thank Chhaya & Sameer for referring Deborah & Mark to me. I shot their beautiful wedding last year when Mark was part of the wedding party!
I love shooting in the Bay Area. I have to be up early tomorrow to shoot a family portrait, so until I have time for a proper blog, here is a fun shot from today!
The song for this slideshow is already one of my favorites, but it is especially appropriate for Robyn & Jeff because it was playing when Jeff asked Robyn to marry him. As a lovely gift, one of Robyn's bridesmaids sang it to them during the reception.
Robyn & Jeff were married on Sunday at Estancia in La Jolla. Robyn is an event planner, so you KNOW all the details were incredible! There was a big debate in the early part of the day as to whether or not the ceremony should be held inside, but I am so glad that it stayed outside - despite the fact that it began to rain seconds before the ceremony began. It made for some truly dramatic photographs!
A HUGE THANK YOU goes out to Erin Gouveia of Erin Kate Photography who flew out from Utah to do a Tea for Two mentor sessoin with me and tag along to this wedding. Erin, you caught some amazing moments, and I am so happy to have met you!
I have been trying to get so much done this week, and I was up until 3am working on the highlights for the amazing wedding I shot on 11/11. I have to speak at Riverside University tonight, so I must get on the road. I promise to work on the blog post for the wedding tonight, but for now, here is an absolute favorite of mine! We had gorgeous soft weather all day and it started to rain JUST before the ceremony. It was stunning!
If you thought Rachel & Dan's Day One wedding was gorgeous... you really haven't seen anything yet. I cannot rave enough about this wedding, so I will give you the links that made the day outstanding and let you see the photographs for yourself.
Of course since I was shooting in Napa, I was able to bring Joy with me, but I also want to give an enormous THANK YOU to the extremely talented Ann Hamilton for joining us at the last second and being an all-around fun person to shoot with!
Unlike most people who have a wedding DAY, Rachel & Dan had a wedding WEEKEND with two full weddings in two different cities. Wedding #1 was on Friday, October 19th on a cloudy day in San Francisco. Because of Dan's heritage, the couple wanted to have a more formal Armenian ceremony at the Armenian Apostolic Church in San Francisco. Before the ceremony, we jumped into two "his & her" limos (to accommodate the 18 person wedding party!) and shot at the gorgeous Palace of Fine Arts. The cocktail reception was held at The Rotunda at Neiman Marcus in Union Square.
One thing I LOVE about my job is the opportunity to travel to all these amazing places. Domenique and David were married on October 14th at the most gorgeous venue, Harvest Inn. It is lush and charming and has so many amazing places to shoot!
The day was made flawless by the energetic Duncan Reyes of Duncan Reyes Events by Design. The flowers, done by Mary O'Connor of Out of the Weeds were perfect. I LOVED the turquoise accents and the turquoise wedding cake!!
Some favorites:
One of my first attempts at adding texture to an image... I like the depth it adds!
David is English, so Domenique really wanted to get some fun shots in this old-fashioned English telephone booth!
Love this shot that Joy got from the balcony. Can you believe this location??
Turquoise cake!!
Every single seat had a name tag gracefully tied to it along with a personalized menu for each guest.
The third and final day of the Lara & Ike Wedding Extravaganza took place at their private residence in Beverly Hills. There was a lush Mexican/Moroccan dinner (with handmade Naan!) after which everyone danced the night away. Lara & Ike are a really fun couple, and I was so thrilled to be a part of their wedding week!
The party for Lara & Ike continues in Day Two of their wedding celebration! In their Santa Barbara ceremony, Lara & Ike were surrounded by their friends and family in an outdoor, poolside ceremony. Their vows were sweet and funny, but left not many dry eyes. I loved the butterfly theme throughout the day, and I thought the wildflowers were a lovely touch.
You know how you plan and plan for your wedding day, then it finally comes... and its over in a flash? Well Lara & Ike didn't have that problem. They had THREE separate parties in three different cities. Here are a few favorites from Day One - an intimate ceremony on September 25th at Kahal Joseph Congragation in West Los Angeles.
I have decided that I am going to try to blog a wedding a day until I'm finally caught up with everything! ("try" being the opperative word here...) Here goes:
joy & tom september 29, 2007
Joy & Tom were married in the extremely lovely Sausolito. They were a blast to be around because they are so clearly best friends. I had so much fun with them on their engagement shoot last year that I knew the wedding day was going to be fun. Joy's colors were turquoise and brown - a very lovely combination and one of the more unique ones I've seen!
I want to give a big THANK YOU to Lilia Ahner of Lilia Photography for tagging along as part of the Tea for Two mentoring session she did with me.
Here is a shot from Day Two of the 2-part wedding... Today's wedding was so cool - it took place at Carneros Inn in Napa. I'm pretty beat right now, but I'll try to post more soon.
As I am so sadly behind on blogging, I am going to only post TWO favorite images from today's wedding. Today was Day One of a two part wedding... today was in San Francisco, and part two, Sunday, will be in Napa. Stay tuned for more!!
This wedding was actually JOY'S gig, but I am still the luckiest person on Earth! Joy is my twin sister AND my best friend AND I get to work with her all the time!! We have so much fun together. Although I have been shooting since I was 12, Joy only really got into photography when she started working for me. So when her friend asked her to shoot their very very tiny home wedding, Joy asked me to second shoot for her - just for a little support. The entire event was very small, but here are a few favorites! Good job, Joy!
this was just after Melissa & Mike were announced as husband and wife.
This is a shot from today's wedding... and I'm still AT the wedding! I couldn't resist the free internet access here at the amazing Harvest Inn in St. Helena. More soon!
Renee & David's wedding has so many amazing elements from the Barbie & Ken dolls made to look exactly like the bride & groom to the funky tennis shoes that all the guys were given as bridal party gifts. I loved the buttons on their wedding cake and the tiny magnetic love dolls that were given as favors. To see many more images from Renee & David's wedding, please either click on the image below or click here to see it in its own window.
Also, I want to say two Thank Yous... one to Ronnie Slavin who, as a part of her Tea for Two session with me, came along to shadow me for this wedding. Ronnie, you were a TOTAL asset to our team, and I was glad to have you there! And the other Thank You goes to Michelle and Dakin who told Renee & David about me after I shot their beautiful wedding in June of 2005.
October 6th marked the third day of the three-day wedding extravaganza for Lara & Ike. It started at a temple in Westwood, went to a ranch in Santa Barbara and ended at a private residence in Beverly Hills. I need to go through all three days to put together a nice post for you, but for now, here is a favorite of mine from the third day - the bride & groom up on chairs during the hora!!
Joy and I had so much fun on Catalina Island shooting Teri & Chris' wedding. We even saw dolphins and a HUGE whale on our helicopter flight! I loved Teri's vintage look and the veil she wore with lace imported from England.
I have made another fun slideshow with many more images from Teri & Chris' wedding. Please either click on the image below or click here to see it in its own window.
Since I spent my birthday shooting an adorable wedding in Santa Barbara yesterday, Joy and I are going to celebrate today and spend the day together at our favorite spa!!
Here is a shot from day TWO of a three day wedding event... more to come soon!
I'm back in the Bay Area! Yesterday was a GORGEOUS, fog-free day. As you know, I am quite behind on my blog, but for your viewing pleasure here is ONE favorite from the day..more to come soon!
Lara & Ike were married in a short ceremony at Kahal Joseph Congregation in Los Angeles on Tuesday. This ceremony was just part ONE of a three part, three city wedding! Watch the blog - much more to come!!
Emily & Howard were married at the very lovely Calamigos Ranch on September 15th. I absolutely adored Emily's pink gown! The wedding was really different because instead dancing, the couple had a few wedding games to entertain their guests. In one, a blindfolded Howard had to choose the pair of feet that belonged to his bride (he guessed correctly!) and in another, Emily & Howard along with both sets of their parents had to answer questions about themselves much like "The Newlywed Game." It was really fun!
Here are some details that helped make the day so perfect...
My Saturday bride works at Mattel, so dolls were made of her and her groom.... I'm going to blog more from the past three weddings in the next two days, so come back again soon. For now, here is one shot from Saturday's wedding...HOW CUTE IS THIS??
Okay! I'm sadly behind in my blogging, but this will be worth the wait! Here is the slideshow from Nikoo & Hossein's wedding at Le Rose Chateau - this is the wedding that's going to be featured on "Platinum Weddings" on the WE channel soon! I'll let you know when it airs as soon as I find out!
Whew! What a crazy weekend! I just got back from my wedding on Catalina Island at the Catalina Country Club.... the entire event was unbelievable, but one highlight was on the helicopter flight home when we saw not only two schools (groups? gaggles? parties??) of dolphins leaping around but a WHALE blowing water through its blowhole!!
a HUGE thank you to my sister, Joy, for spending 10 days here in LA to help me with three weddings, my seminar at PartnerCon, and the launch of Jules Cafe!! Thank you, Joy, your help was invaluable. I love you!
Sadly, I had to take Joy straight to LAX and then head right home for a meeting. I just downloaded the wedding and pulled ONE favorite to share. MANY more to come, but right now I'm taking a nap!!
I wont be able to blog for a while because the wedding I'm shooting today is on Catalina Island, and we will be staying there over night. I thought I would blog ONE image from yesterday's wedding at the lovely Calamigos Ranch - MANY more pics to come, but for now here is a fav that caught my eye!
Saturday's wedding was an outstanding affair at Le Chateau Rose in Bel Air. It was the first wedding I've ever shot with over 9 professional cameras going at once! Platinum Weddings from the "WE" channel was there with two cameras, two sound guys, a producer and PA, Robert Evans was my second shooter and had two videographers for his "second shooter" series, Joy flew down to shoot, and Nikoo and Hossein had their wedding videographers, too!
To give you a taste of what that was like, this is a shot that Joy took of Rob's videographer shooting me shooting Platinum Weddings interviewing the groom. His own videographer is shooting him, too! It was crazy fun!!!
Huge kudos go out to Special Event Coordinator Sonia Sharma of Sonia Sharma Events for coordinating this beautiful 400 person wedding!
I promise to do a slideshow very soon, but since I'm speaking at PartnerCon tomorrow and have so much to do before that happens, this will have to do for now!
Today's wedding was a dropdead gorgeous event. Platinum Weddings from the WE channel was there filming as well! I am going to do my best to be a timely blogger, but the craziness continues this week because I'm speaking at PartnerCon and I have two weddings September 15th and 16th. I am just downloading the cards from today and thought I would share ONE image that caught my eye. There will be MUCH more to come soon!!
Remarkably, I didn't have any weddings this Labor Day weekend. Rather than take the whole weekend off, I decided to go hang out with FAVORITE photography team, Robert Evans and Joshua Bobrove of Robert Evans Studios to shoot with them on their job at the Four Seasons Hotel. Admittedly, I'm a photo geek.
What I saw:
The Man, the Myth, the Legend that is Robert Evans.
Lauren looking radiant.
Ted would not stop laughing all day!
I shot over Lauren's shoulder to get Ted's reaction when he first saw her. I absolutely LOVE his expressions here!
A jubilant bridal party.
A tiny yellow ribbon kept guests from walking down the aisle.
Lauren & Ted couldn't wait to get married...
I shot my most favorite breaking-of-the-glass image ever!
On Sunday I shot the very lovely wedding of Grace and Scott at the Trump National Golf Club. Despite the fact that our day started with rain (that's thought to be good luck on a wedding day!) Grace and Scott were so happy and bubbly. They just wanted to be married!
To see a slideshow/gallery of photos from the day, please click the image below. If you would prefer to see the slideshow in its own window, click here!
On Saturday I shot Katy & Cary's wedding at the lovely Beverly Hills Hotel. I was so excited to be working with the talented Stephanie Lairson again because she has such great taste and always keeps the weddings running smoothly. (Plus she's just fun to be around!) Katy & Cary win for having the largest wedding party of the year - a whopping 27 people!
For those of you who are interested in seeing much more, please click here or on the image below!
What an excellent weekend! I shot two unbelievably gorgeous weddings, so I guess I have my work cut out for me this week. Here is one image that caught my eye while I was downloading today's wedding from the Trump National Golf Course... check back in a few days to see much more!
I just shot the most amazing wedding at The Beverly Hills Hotel...I MUST get to sleep because I'm shooting at the Trump National Golf Course tomorrow, but while I was downloading my images from tonight, this one caught my eye. More soon!
I am often asked what would happen if I was, for some reason, unable to shoot one of my contracted weddings. This past Saturday provides a very good answer for that question. The father of a good friend of mine, Ann Hamilton, passed away and made it impossible for her to shoot the wedding she was contracted to shoot on August 11th. Because I myself was not booked, I was able to step in and take over the job for her. Ann, thank you so much for trusting me with your lovely clients. I am so fortunate to have such a great network of associates and friends!
I was thrilled that the wedding took place all around San Francisco, and also that Joy was able to shoot it with me. Jaclyn and Vincent were a dream couple with so much love for each other, their family and friends that it just spilled over into the entire day. I have to warn you, there are SO many favorites that this is a going to be a long post... and I didn't even put many from the reception! (There was a surprise visitor, but you'll have to watch the slideshow to find out who!)
To see all the highlights from Jaclyn & Vincent's amazing day, click on the image below or click here.
I LOVED the "something blue" on the bottom of her shoes!
Yesterday's wedding was a long twelve hour event, (Joy and I were there closer to 13!) so I spent today just playing with my nieces. Tomorrow we are all heading up to Bear Valley for the week to hang out at my mother's cabin. I will have very limited cell phone and email access while I'm there, so I'm posting one image just to let you know that
